Fill the right gaps
Uninsured motorist coverage can help with covered losses caused by a driver who lacks liability insurance. Underinsured motorist coverage can help when the responsible driver has insufficient coverage. Availability, covered losses, limits, and procedures vary by state and policy. Medical payments and personal injury protection are other possible coverages for qualifying injury expenses; personal injury protection may include additional benefits. Do not assume their rules are identical.
Optional rental reimbursement generally pays toward a temporary rental after a qualifying covered loss, with daily and total limits. It is different from coverage for damage to a car you rent. Roadside assistance has its own services and limits. Personal policies may exclude or restrict paid rideshare or delivery work. Before starting, tell the insurer exactly what you will do and ask how personal, platform, and any added coverage apply during each stage of the work.
